“Add random speeds 30-80 MPH the electric power steering pump with shut off, resulting in no power steering with no warning other than the little chime beep after it shuts off. The pump was replaced at my expense and I want reimbursed by dealership. At times I was doing over 70 miles an hour going around curves and turns and it would shut off.”
NHTSA complaint #11367021, filed 2020-10, 90,000 miles“Takata recall - when in motion, on a city street or a highway, driving straight, going into a turn or just turning at any time my power steering light comes on and the power steering goes out. This makes it very difficult to operate my chevey 2007 HHR safely. I have researched this and find on youtube there are a lot of HHR owners with this same problem. Please advise.”
NHTSA complaint #10820695, filed 2016-01, 8,500 miles“I was driving down the road and heard a warning chime and the dic showed power steering. I pulled over, turned car off and back on it was fine. Was looking to se what it would cost to replace and see all these people having same trouble. It's very dangerous and should be looked at by Chevrolet if it's that big of a problem!!”
NHTSA complaint #10818719, filed 2016-01, 112,000 miles“Power steering went out while I was driving, almost causing an accident with my young children in the car! No warning or anything. All of a sudden steering wheel became stiff and non movable. Power steering flashed on dashboard. This is a major safety hazard and I cant believe there is no recall!!!!!!!”
NHTSA complaint #10959580, filed 2017-03, 72,000 miles“I was driving into a parkin glot and my steering just stopped working and I could not hardly get it in the parkin glot. I sat for a while and restarted the car and it worked to get me home. It seems to me that I saw a steering problem back when I had my ignition recall fixed. I now cannot find that.”
