“From stop I would step on the gas, and the car would slam into gear. I have had to have the electrical cluster replaced $300, and the fuel control replaced (car always smelt like gas) now they think this slam is the tcc valve in the transmission which is anywhere from $600-$900. Also the steering knuckle makes a loud noise on sharp turns. Whats next? Are any of these issues recalls?”

“While driving my children to school, my steering wheel locked up, my gas pedal would not accelerate, and my brake pedal locked up, brought to my local dealership they replaced the ignition and the problem is still occurring. Updated 2/27/15”

NHTSA complaint #10609110, filed 2014-07, 97,252 miles

“The speedometer on my daughter's 2005 Chevrolet stopped working at 50'000 mi. We called Chevrolet, but were told since the car was out of warranty we would have to pay for the repair.(350 dollars). I would like to know if there have been other complaints about this problem.”

NHTSA complaint #10213468, filed 2008-01, 50,000 miles

“I was accelerating and merging onto a road and just got into the middle lane. Suddenly the car kept accelerating even though I had stopped pressing the pedal. The engine was revving and the car got up to 70 MPH in a 55 zone. The brakes did not seem to help slow the car. In a panic I shifted to neutral and was able to pull onto the shoulder and stop the car. Even when I was in park, the engine was still revving. I turned the vehicle off and rested it about 5 minutes and was able to restart it. It did not seem to have any problems on the way home after that. …”

NHTSA complaint #10876624, filed 2016-06, 148,000 miles

“My wife and two children were riding in our 2005 Chevrolet Impala and it suddenly started accelerating uncontrollably. My wife called 911 and told them that she couldn't get the car to stop and the brakes seemed to be locked. The car went uncontrollably for about 3/4 mile, and reached speeds over 90 MPH. She ended up putting the car in neutral to get it to slow down even though the engine was still accelerating. We had it towed to a chevy dealer, but they didn't find anything wrong with it. …”
