“Cruise control disengages by itself at any given speed after driving a mile or so. Then I hit resume, kicks on and after a while, disengages by itself again. Last night it disconnected 21 times in a 16 mile stretch of on highway I-4. This after taken it to dealer courtesy Chevrolet whom I reported the condition and they replaced some parts. But still doing the same.”

NHTSA complaint #10170187, filed 2006-10, 72,000 miles

“My 2002 chevy Malibu suffers from sudden acceleration. Most of the articles I have read on the internet state that they were unable to replicate the results. On my car, I can reproduce the results anytime. The first time this happened, I thought that maybe I had pressed the gas instead of the brake, but I quickly realized that even after releasing the accelerator pedal, the car continued to accelerate on its own. Fortunately, for me, there were no cars on the road when this happened. …”

NHTSA complaint #10177929, filed 2007-01, 84,000 miles

“Problems with vehicle's radio equipment. The vehicle would lose the time and the radio would lose stations when the vehicle was turned on, the temperature gauge read above normal, the cruise control would cut off and when the engine was cold there would be a hesitation.”

NHTSA complaint #10091773, filed 2004-08

“The car jerks at 70 MPH, dealer could not find the problem. The cruise control was stuck in the on position when starting the car (was not activated), dealer could not find the problem. The car feels unstable and shacks at 50+ MPH (since the time of purchase the tire pressure has not been adjusted), the dealer said the tire was over inflated, tire pressure was corrected, but the shacking has become worse.”

NHTSA complaint #763457, filed 2002-06

“While traveling rpms would idle high, resulting in vehicle not to gaining speed or changing into passing gear. Vehicle has been serviced six times for problem.”
