“Vehicle refused to start. It would turn over just fine but the engine refused to fire. Spent 2 days trying to fire the engine. Had to get vehicle towed to dealer. Upon arrival at the dealership, the engine fired right up. They couldn't duplicate the problem & after completing diagnostics found no reason for the failure.”
NHTSA complaint #10016294, filed 2003-04, 47,000 miles“While driving consumer smelt gas fumes. Consumer had vehicle service by the dealership who indicated that the fuel line is rubbing against the transmission or frame of the vehicle , that cause a hole in the fuel line, which resulted in a fuel leak. Please provide more details. Ts”
NHTSA complaint #10001950, filed 2003-01, 50,000 miles“Vehicle ran out of gas and lost power while driving. This occurred because of failures in the gas gauge and fuel pump system. Gas gauge failed to read the correct fuel level in tank. This failure also caused the vehicle to fail state inspection.”
NHTSA complaint #10053533, filed 2004-02, 50,000 miles“Noticed gas gauge was dropping to empty when I had a full tank of gas. Kept an eye on it and the problem became worse. Now my gas gauge does not read at all. I can be on empty and it reads that I have more than a half tank left. Severly times I have almost run out of gas due to this problem. I know have to watch my mileage and determine when I need to get gas.”
NHTSA complaint #10119765, filed 2005-05“Previous complaint of no start condition-dealer suggests new fuel pump at an estimated cost of 1000.00. I have determined that fix relates to a faulty gas cap. It puts the fuel system in a deep vacuum on a hot or warm restart, this part cost 6.60 at the local parts store. I can't believe that the dealer overlooked this and charged me 72.00 for a fuel pressure test and then tried to sell me a 1000.00 job by shotgunning in a part!”
