“Leaking fuel tank -- 1995 s-10 there is a plastic cover over the front end of the fuel tank. This cover collects trash and water. The front bottom edge of the fuel tank has started to rust out. I had been smelling fuel for about a week and had been unable to locate the problem. After finally noticing the leak, I removed the cover and found a small pin hole. When inspecting the hole, it turned into one the size of a pencil eraser. …”

NHTSA complaint #10090352, filed 2004-09, 125,000 miles

“While driving, gasoline fumes can be smelled. We have had this problem since we purchased this vehicle. I have a 1995 Chevrolet blazer S10. I know that there are several recalls for the fuel system/tank. Truck turns off occasionally. Before realizing the recalls, I have sent alot of time and money having mechanics look at it. Several believe it to be a fuel issue and the gas odor is safety risk.”

NHTSA complaint #10200764, filed 2007-08

“Trying to find info/technical bulletin something that will explain why my 1995 S10 is not getting gas. We have changed the EGR valve the fuel injectors and 3 dealerships have placed it on a diagnostic and no one can locate the problem please advise so I can get it repaired”

NHTSA complaint #744649, filed 2001-04

“When I was backing out of driveway I noticed gasoline had dripped onto pavement. I removed the protective shield from the front of the fuel tank and found severe corrosion and a large leak on the bottom of the tank. The protective shield was full of moisture, dirt, gravel and fuel. It is scarey to think of how many vehicles are out there that have this corrosion trap still in place. How could engineers not foresee this problem? I wonder why a service bulletin has not been issued to at least inspect the fuel tank for corrosion caused by the poorly designed shield.”
