“I'm a owner of a 2008 Chevrolet suburban and I have been the original owner of this vehicle. My dashboard has two large cracks and the one I'm most concerned about is the one there the front passenger side airbag. I very concerned that this could to lead to a catastrophic injury if the airbag deploys.”
NHTSA complaint #11191033, filed 2019-03, 10,000 miles“The plastic jack wing nut that holds the jack stored securley in the interior wheel well twisted off the first time it was used. The jack was therefor unacessible for use. The lug wrench twisted apart when it was used to attempt to loosen the lug nuts. The metal in the lug wrench was very soft.”
NHTSA complaint #10910292, filed 2016-09, 36,000 miles“Dashboard of 2008 Chevrolet suburban cracked in 2 places, including around passenger side airbag and above drivers side instrument cluster/steering wheel. Concerned for the proper deployment of the airbag during potential crash due to the cracked dash that surrounds the airbag. This is a safety issue that needs to be addressed. Hundreds if not thousands of other similar vehicles possess the same manufacturing defect in the dashboard and all have reported large cracks in the exact same area.”
NHTSA complaint #10967872, filed 2017-03, 25,000 miles“The dash panel is cracking very badly on the vehicle. Especially around where the airbag is supposed to deploy. Concerned that sharp edges on the cracked plastic will impair the function of the airbag”
NHTSA complaint #11006725, filed 2017-07, 150,000 miles“Dashboard is cracked at upper left corner of passenger side airbag location. Dashboard also cracked at top of instrument cluster. Airbag deployment may cause portions of dashboard to break free.”
