Example complaints

Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“Contact states; front passenger seat belt will tighten and lock while engine is on and off. Just to unlock seat belt at latch and allow it to roll all the way in before it can be applied. It tightens as if brakes were slammed on. However it tightens anyway without that particular situation. Has taken to dealer twice without any conclusions or repairs.”

NHTSA complaint #10119835, filed 2005-05, 1,000 miles

“The consumer was involved in an accident. The consumer was driving about 60 MPH and rear ended another vehicle and the air bags failed to deploy. Also the seat belts did not hold the driver and passenger causing them to go forward into the windshield. Provide further details.”

NHTSA complaint #10108747, filed 2005-01, 58,000 miles

“The rear left and center safety belt latch plate were designed improperly. The consumer was unable to properly tighten the belt, when he tried to secure a child.”

NHTSA complaint #10015991, filed 2003-04, 3,000 miles

“While driving at 45 MPH vehicle was forced off of the road into oncoming traffic. Consumer swerved to avoid a head on collision with another vehicle. This action caused the vehicle to crash through a fence, run into a ditch, and collide head on with an oak tree. Seat belts were worn, but at the time of the impact, the latch came apart. Vehicle was equipped with front and side air air bags. Upon impact, they did not deploy. Consumer's knee was broken, and he suffered a concussion. Police and medical help did arrive on the scene. Manufacturer and the dealer have been notified of the incident.”
