NHTSA complaint #11092700, filed 2018-05, 120,000 miles“Around the beginning of march my 2009 chevy Traverse developed a winding sound when steering at a stop or low speed. At this time the steering wheel was very difficult to turn. The problem has progress and now the venice has little to no assistb. I saw that GM recently released a recall on several of its models with similar steering systems. I feel that the 2009-2012 chevy Traverse lt should also be included.6”
NHTSA complaint #10584764, filed 2014-04, 81,000 miles“The passenger side rear coil spring broke. This happened while sitting still in traffic, I heard an loud noise --- like a fastener breaking and then vehicle rocked. I pulled over very shortly and checked to see if a lug nuts or tire blew and didn't see anything unusual. I just had my tires rotated (4-2-14 ) at local shop and told them about the incident and they found the top part of coil spring -- approx. 3 to 4 inches had broken off. …”
NHTSA complaint #10577133, filed 2014-04, 87,500 miles“My wife and I own a 09 chevy Traverse and have had for about 3 years. When we first bought it it drove like brand new but over the period of a year or so we started to feel a side to side swaying (such as rocking in a boat) while driving about 60 MPH. Since we've got 4 kids and my wife uses it as a day to day vehicle I took it to the dealership and had them tell me it was struts (which I had replaced) and after being replaced it still had the side to side movement. It has gotten to the point I don't allow her to drive her nor the kids because of the dangers. …”
NHTSA complaint #11388567, filed 2021-01, 170,000 miles“I was in the process of making a left hand turn when my steering wheel locked when I finally got the steering wheel to loosen and move back into place I heard a loud popping sound. Then my car on the front passenger side dropped to the ground due to the front tire axle braking which caused me to hit the back of a park vehicle. The brake of the axle appeared to clean as though the axle was never apart of my car. The incident scared me a lot and it could have been a lot worse. …”
