“The length of the webbing on the buckle stalk is too long to properly install a car seat. An approved method to properly install a car seat in this situation is to twist the buckle. If this is done it puts the buckle in the belt path of a forward facing seat. While tightening the belt the locking latchplate broke. It is very lightweight. Another incident occured with another dodge the next week with another tech.”
NHTSA complaint #10371530, filed 2010-12, 32,000 miles“The rear seatbelts in the vehicle do not fit my 11 and 13 year old children. The part that the belt plugs into appears to be too long, thus the belt is pulled up by the shoulder to position it across the middle of my child. The belt will not ride on the hips as required to be properly belted in the vehicle.”
NHTSA complaint #10220047, filed 2008-03“The contact owns a 2008 Chrysler 300. The contact observed a malfunction with the front passenger seat belt buckle. The seat belt buckle failed to release with an occupant positioned in the seat belt. The occupant loosened the webbing and was able to squeeze out of the seat belt. The vehicle has not been repaired for the malfunction at this time. The VIN was unavailable. The failure mileage was 59,000. Updated 05/13/10.”
