“Gas 'spits out' when filling. Very dangerous, gas will shoot out over a foot. Took it to Chrysler dealer for recall 'TSB 14-001-12', did not fix the problem. Returned the car 3 days later and charged $100.00. Was told I need a new gas tank and I have to pay for it!!! Why doesn't this recall pay for it??? It's diffently a safey problem???”

NHTSA complaint #10967680, filed 2017-03, 50,300 miles

“When filling with gas, it doesn't stop when it gets full, and gets gas all over me and the vehicle. I have heard many other people who own this vehicle have the same problem, but fiat won't do anything about when people complain....updated 09/28/15 updated 10/13/15.”

NHTSA complaint #10743854, filed 2015-07, 100,000 miles

“Just purchased this vehicle used and at first fuel fill-up gas spewed out of tank at end of fill-up. I did not top off, and I was holding gas lever myself. As it shut off, a ton of fuel shot out of the tank all over me. I've read this is a common problem with this vehicle. Why is this not a recall?”

NHTSA complaint #10549758, filed 2013-10, 111,000 miles

“Fuel gushed out of the tank and sprayed over the SUV and myself at the gas station when I was refueling my vehicle. This seems to be an ongoing safety problem with this make and model that has not been corrected by the manufacturer.”

NHTSA complaint #10679840, filed 2015-01, 63,564 miles

“2007 Chrysler aspen spills gas when filling tank. I have tried stopping the pump before it shuts itself off automatically, but gas still pours down the side of the vehicle and/or shoots back at me. This has now happened five times in a row at different gas stations. This is incredibly dangerous.”

NHTSA complaint #10376851, filed 2011-01, 62,500 miles
