“I purchased this car in '95 with an extended warranty for 7 years and 75,000 miles. The trasnmission has been replaced 5 times and the last two times have occurred since the 1st of august 2000. The last 16 months the car has had a problem of slipping the transmission into what is called limp mode which immediately shifts the car into low gear with no warning and it will fluctuate back into gear and into low gear until the car is stopped and restarted. I believe this car has a defect which cannot be fixed by the manufacturer and I believe it to be a safety hazard. …”
NHTSA complaint #731461, filed 2000-09“Vehicle has been in the shop sixteen times for repair service. The power steering belt came off and the consumer lost control of the vehicle upon applying the brakes to stop. The water pump has been replaced. Also, the air conditioner unit has been worked on four times, and the dealer can't find the problem. Vehicle is still in the shop for the 17th time.”
NHTSA complaint #830805, filed 1998-11“Owner noticed that most of the time the light on the radio clock and cd player does not light up. The light stays off for weeks at a time. The radio and cd player continue to work, but there is no indication of this. The dealer is aware of this problem. The problem has not been corrected.”
