“I recently got pulled over because my horn keeps going of uncontrollably! I had to take the fuse out and I've been pulled over twice because the horn goes off and distracts drivers unintentionally. They get mad and call the cops.. Then once this fuse is pulled the gas meter goes crazy and dumb. It said once we had half tank and we ran out as soon as we pulled out the driveway! This is a safety hazard!! This need to be recalled!!”
NHTSA complaint #10663751, filed 2014-12, 81,200 miles“The horn goes off at any given time of the day. The horn randomly goes off when the car is powered on and in motion (on the highway or on a street), sometimes while stationary and powered off in the driveway - the vehicle being vacant. This is a reoccurring issue, almost every day. I've only had the car for 14 months. Following some online research, I discovered that there are hundreds of other complaints posted to various forums by other owners experiencing the same problem. The only proposed permanent solution being to replace the clock switch, a costly repair (est $1100). …”
NHTSA complaint #11338778, filed 2020-07, 124,000 miles“When you push the horn it will not turn off. I pulled the fuse out so that I would not have to deal with the horn having a mind of its own. My fix was to purchase a switch about $4-5 at the auto store and rewire the horn in on my own. It looks a little tacky, I put the switch under the turn signal, but it is far better than being in traffic or at a light and having the horn go off for 5 minutes. Straight. I never took it in but I am guessing it is an issue with the horn switch which is under the airbag. Expensive fix which is why Chrysler will never pay to fix the issue.”
NHTSA complaint #10789340, filed 2015-11, 63,185 miles“This complaint is on behalf of my father. Robert mulcahy sr. He owns a 2005 Chrysler Sebring (touring) auto. I don't have the VIN number, but could get it. He was just involved in an accident that had him impacting another vehicle with the front of his car at or around 35-40 MPH. We both find it incredible that neither air bags deployed. Does this sound like a normal operation of safety equipment? This accident happened in oak lawn, il., on the 9th of august, 2007.”
NHTSA complaint #10199528, filed 2007-08, 5,500 miles“Just as everyone else is complaining about my horn has a mind of its own and goes off on its own and lasts for several minutes. It is embarrassing and dangerous because the remainder of time I have no horn at all. There have been several times when I desperately needed to honk my horn to protect my safety. I have been lucky and uninjured this far. As is well known, to fix the horn I have to replace the whole air bag assembly. My estimate was about $800 which I simply cannot afford. I too think Chrysler should own its responsibility for this common issue and cover the costs of repairs.. …”
