“On tuesday may 31,2011 at 8:00 am I was driving about 40 mins when I approached a stop light. I turned the A/C on and noticed a plastic smell. I turned into the gas station to investigate. In less than two minutes my entire engine compartment was in flames. The car is a total loss. My vehicle was not included in the recall that could have prevented this. Dodge is responsible!”
NHTSA complaint #10404434, filed 2011-06, 76,000 miles“My 2008 Avenger stalls when accelerating. It seems to happen when it is wet and cold out. It happens mostly when you are at a complete stop and push the gas or when you are slowing down and the accelerate. I have almost been in several accidents due to this happening. I have taken it to the Dodge dealership and they said they can't find anything wrong. There is definitely something wrong.”
NHTSA complaint #10440316, filed 2011-12, 40,000 miles“The car when on highway tachometer fluctuates and when coming to a stop almost stalls. Also today after the defroster/air conditioner was turned off when I came to a stop at a red light the car almost stalled then proceeded to counteract the stall by revving up to at least 2000 RPM's causing me to jump forward into the intersection. Luckily no cars were in front of me because it would have caused a crash.”
NHTSA complaint #10263197, filed 2009-03, 35,500 miles“I was driving on the highway and then the car just started like it was wanting to cut off when I was giving it throttle the car was jerking back and fourth I took it back to the place I bough it from and waiting on them to fix the issue.”
NHTSA complaint #10446644, filed 2012-02, 58,000 miles“I have numerous problems with my 2008 Dodge Avenger it has stalled out unexpectedly with no sensor indication, I brought it to the shop a few times concerning this issue and nothing could be detected the mechanic fixed something but was not certain it would fix the issue, and now the car has had a knocking sound coming from the steering I took into the shop and they said it was fixed after the car warms up it returns.”
