“The electronic throttle control and the engine light are constantly coming on and going off. This has been going on for two weeks now. I called a Dodge dealer and they told me that the recall for this very same issue is not for my car. My VIN supposedly is not in the sequence chrysler decided to recall. I don't know what to do.”
NHTSA complaint #10567819, filed 2014-03, 128,000 miles“Electronic throttle control light came on and stayed flashing could not go over approx 15-25 MPH. Pulled over shut car off and restarted and worked fine for the 5 min drive I had to complete after it happened. 9 hours later while driving the throttle control light came on again with loss of power intermittently then stayed off for 5 min drive I had to complete.”
NHTSA complaint #10510037, filed 2013-04, 75,000 miles“Was coming to a stop off of the interstate and all of a sudden lost speed power. Was unable to go over 10 MPH from my stopping point. The etc light was flashing. I have not yet taken it to a mechanic. I did shut the car off and restarted and it seems to be running fine now .... But will this happen again?”
NHTSA complaint #10563239, filed 2014-02, 84,500 miles“I've already had to replace the power control module (PCM) once just a year and a half ago, and now I have to replace it again and my car has been out of commission and sitting at a mechanic's repair shop for almost 2 months now after fixing other things first before finally determining it was the PCM again. Car will not rev above 2.0 RPM and is in limp mode with the service engine light along with the lightning bolt symbol present on the dashboard.”
NHTSA complaint #11057358, filed 2017-12, 157,000 miles“Gear shift got stuck in park and could not move vehicle. This was a customer chrysler customer satisfaction notification k16. I talked to Dodge about this problem and they told me that in october 2010 before I bought the car the dealer checked the gearshift and determined it was safe and did not need to be reinforced. Obviously it did. The repair cost $342.54. As I've seen on the internet this happens to many Dodge avengers and is a safety concern.”
