“I have a 2014 Dodge Avenger rt 3.6 vvt... I purchased it with around 32,000 miles and right around 55000 miles my AC went out im being told its the evaporator and is gonna cost 700 hundred dollars to fix and now at 70,000 miles its starting to makes this tapping noise they say it's probably the lifters or something but it sounds like its low on oil but its not the dealer basically wants money”
NHTSA complaint #11010811, filed 2017-07, 60,000 miles“Just bought the car, within a month the brakes were grinding. Took it to the dealership and there was a power train leak which they replaced. A few days later, I was at an intersection turning and my wheel completely locked, causing me to hit the car in front of me and the air bags deployed. An officer happened to be on the same road and saw that my car was also smoking as well which may have been due to the previous power train leak. I looked at other recalls and sure enough, there are some on the 2011-2013 regarding steering and brake systems as well. …”
NHTSA complaint #11416143, filed 2021-05, 42,500 miles“I was less than 1 mile from home. I noticed the throttle wasnt responding as it should when I pressed the pedal. The etc light was blinking and the traction light was on. I was not able to drive over 20 MPH and I was almost rear ended by the vehicle behind me. After having it towed and having two mechanics look at it, they determined it to be a throttle body failure. This was replaced. I picked the car up. Less than 1/2 a mile from the shop, I lost power again and the same lights reappeared with the engine light now lit up. I took it back. …”
NHTSA complaint #11142727, filed 2018-10, 131,000 miles“The first time the throttle control warning light came on, I was mid-turn into oncoming traffic when my vehicle stalled, completely stopping almost causing another vehicle to t-bone me. Car shut off and when I restarted it, it automatically accelerated. Arrived at my destination within a mile and later that day when I turned on my car to go home, the light was off and no issues. A couple days go by, on my way to work again, I am trying to stop for a red light, throttle control warning light comes on and car accelerates instead causing me to run the red light. …”
NHTSA complaint #11080640, filed 2018-03, 75,000 miles“I was driving my car and as I came to a light my car started to idle really rough like it was going to stall the rpms went all the way down to almost 200rpm then I put the car in neutral and hit the gas a bit so it wouldn't stall and it revved up to 1000 RPM and then shut off completely and the electronic throttle control light flashed at me . Then I restarted my car and there were no lights on . The car was idleing really rough. I have the 2.4l I-4. Its never ran that way before so I continued to drive and about twenty minutes later it did the same exact thing. …”
