Example complaints

Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“I received a recall notice for a rear window switch. It could cause a fire in the electrical workings of the windows. I have contacted a dealer for this, and the service department removed the faulty part. (about 6 months ago). They have not received a replacement part from chrysler as of yet. The time frame is not reasonable, as I have been waiting for almost a year for this to be fixed.”

NHTSA complaint #10682721, filed 2015-02, 8,000 miles

“The vehicle on more than one occasion has stalled while driving. It has happened approximately 4 times, 3 when turning right, it just stalls, the power steering goes out and I have been stuck in the middle of the road. Once I put it into park and restart it, it goes just fine. I have taken it to the dealership three times and they have failed to find or fix the problem. This is so dangerous as it only happens when in motion and driving.”

NHTSA complaint #10991647, filed 2017-05, 50,000 miles

“Tipm totally integrated power module went out. The van is only 3 years old. We keep in maintained. It is a shame that this has happened as we are still making payments on the vehicle. We were out of town and had to have the vehicle towed back to our town to be put in the shop.”

NHTSA complaint #10928327, filed 2016-11, 67,000 miles

“Received a recall notice from chrysler shortly after purchasing 2013 Dodge Caravan stating the rear quarter window switch may overheat if exposed to liquid moisture and may cause a burning odor, smoke, or driver's door fire without warming. I contacted my dealer and they disconnected the rear quarter vent window switch. This of course does not allow the windows to open. In february 2015, I contacted my dealer about the recall repair and was told that chrysler is unable to provide a permanent remedy due to the needed part is not available. …”

NHTSA complaint #10691712, filed 2015-03, 3,000 miles

“The fuel relay failed and the only way to replace it is to replace the entire fuse circuit board ( tipms ) , as it is soldered into the board , so instead of costing $8 for a relay it will cost $1500 to $2000 according to dealer quotes”

NHTSA complaint #11180678, filed 2019-02, 72,000 miles
