“I purchased a new 2010 Dodge Challenger in january 2010. The ceramic brakes began squeaking in april 2010. It occurs after the vehicle has been driven approximately 3 to 5 minutes and the brakes have heated up. I have taken the vehicle to 3 different places over 6 visits and during each oil change and the same results are: your brakes are good, no replacement needed, we removed some dust (in 2 cases, the removed some type of fluid) and your brakes are fine. …”
NHTSA complaint #10361709, filed 2010-10, 4,000 miles“Upon starting to accelerate from a stoplight the car suddenly accelerated on its own & the brakes would not work. Their was a vehicle stopped at the next intersection (4 way stop). To avoid hitting them I went to the right of the stop sign. There was just enough room in between the stop sign & a telephone pole. I had shifted the car to neutral, & finally got it stopped in front of a house. I was very shaken up by this & called my husband. He said he would be there asap. A man came out of the house & asked me was I ok. I told him what happened & let him know my husband was on the way. …”
NHTSA complaint #10881302, filed 2016-06, 67,000 miles“My 2010 Challenger srt8 with automatic transmission stalled when making a right-hand turn at approximately 5:00 pm on 9/5/12. Engine was at normal operating temperature and the AC was running. I was travelling at about 35 MPH and began braking to make a right turn into a service station. As I started into the turn at about 10 MPH, the engine stalled resulting in loss of brakes and power steering. I was able to complete the turn and stop the car with hard brake pressure. No indicator warning lights appeared on the instruments. …”
NHTSA complaint #10474215, filed 2012-09, 6,800 miles“While drivivg on my way home doing about 60mph in the right lane on the expressway and the car completely shutdown, the engine light came on, I couldn't even steer the car, the steering wheel locked up no breaking capeability, had to let the car coast into the emergency lane, luckly there weren't any cars in front or behaind me. Which could have been fatal. While in the emergency lane put the car in park turned off ther ignition, turned on the ignition put the car in drive and the car would move, put it back in park turned the ignition off again, started it again put in drive.”
NHTSA complaint #10668964, filed 2014-12, 98,000 miles“This vibration began approx. 3 months ago. It is transmitted from the front brakes to the steering wheel primarily between 45-35 MPH. It is less evident at speeds below that, but still occurs. Called my local Dodge dealer expecting this to be a warranted repair (11600 miles) and was told this is a wearable item I.e: wiper blades, tires, etc. I was surprised to say the least. This type of issue is well documented on various websites and regulatory action should be taken. This is a serious problem regarding one's ability to stop a two ton vehicle safely.”
