“Takata air bag. I purchased a 2005 Dodge Dakota in august 2018. I took it to the dealership in october when I found out about the recall. Dealership replaced drivers side but not passenger side.I was told and shown photos of an empty space.there was no airbag or wiring.I still have no psa. Also when I test drove this vehicle it had no headlights.when I purchased it I was told they were fixed.I do not have high beams still. There are also problems with the emissions on this truck.I replaced the evap pump but still is not correct. …”

NHTSA complaint #11150765, filed 2018-11, 141,000 miles

“I started the vehicle and instantly noticed a strong raw gas smell in the cab. Thinking it just overloaded by not starting it for a month, I waited for the smell to go away, but it didn't. Looking through the rear wheel well, I discovered the fuel hose from the top of the gas tank had split and was spewing gasoline all around and under the bed of the truck. Just turning on the key, which starts the fuel pump and pressurizes the fuel line, causes gas to be discharged at a high rate. The truck is in excellent condition, well maintained, and has just 54,000 miles on it. …”

NHTSA complaint #10462710, filed 2012-06, 54,235 miles

“Driving on highway, ran out of fuel. Fuel gauge and warning light failed. Required considerable effort to get to side of road. Fuel gauge registers tank has fuel when tank is empty. Required state police assistance because of high danger especially with children in vehicle.”

NHTSA complaint #10649587, filed 2014-10, 75,000 miles

“Mine is the 2005 Dodge Dakota extra cab and the exhaust manifold bolts breaking/shearing at the engine block. This can cause (and it has) a ticking sound that gets louder as you accelerate. Once you hear the ticking sound, both sides of the engine are affected. This results in poor mileage, overheating, engine will stall at low idle, ultimately allowing exhaust fumes to enter the cabin, potentiallu, poisoning the occupants with carbon monoxide fumes. I took this vehicle to the dealer to have then replaced. The 1st dealer said it wasn't repairable. …”

NHTSA complaint #11089234, filed 2018-04, 130,000 miles

“My 2005 Dodge Dakota shakes when driving on smooth road and braking, rpms rev really high, has no pick up, and gets 9 mpg of gas, defect in drivers seatbelt none of which are covered by Dodge or a warrenty”

NHTSA complaint #10192852, filed 2007-06, 38,500 miles
