“Since purchasing the van used headlights flicker when driving, usually including the interior lights. They have never actually failed, but this does not inspire confidence when driving at night. I understand a NHTSA recall is possible for 2001-2002 models, but I hope this will be extended at least to 2003 models as well, since the symptoms are eerily similar.”
NHTSA complaint #10114520, filed 2005-03, 42,650 miles“While driving, the left headlamp stopped working. It started working again a few minutes later, and has continued to turn on and off for no apparent reason. High beams work ok. The same problem occurred with two different bulbs. When the ignition is off, I can turn on the headlights, but the left light has a slight delay turning on. When I turn the ignition on, the left headlight goes out. I cannot find any relays or fuses for the headlights. Two mechanics have looked at the problem, and have not been able to fix it. This seems to be a common problem on the web, but I can't find any solutions.”
NHTSA complaint #10445700, filed 2012-01, 123,000 miles“The headlights just turn off by themselves. No warning. Extremely dangerous at night. This has occurred about 7 times. Very intermittent, but nearly ran off the road on one occasion. The car was completely black and I couldn't find the switch to toggle it back and forth. They have always come back on after turning the switch off then back on a couple of times.”
NHTSA complaint #10240254, filed 2008-08, 84,000 miles“Car started. Headlights switched on, but headlights did not illuminate, others lights did. Switch was not the problem. Turned car off, turned on headlights, which now worked, and started car. It was purchased new and headlight switch was replaced about two years ago due to headlights going out while driving at night.”
NHTSA complaint #10191249, filed 2007-05, 54,550 miles“Headlights and interior lights flicker 2 1/2 year old vehicle currently has 49,00 miles headlights have always seemed to flicker. Occasionally interior lights do the same. Dealer suggests replacing several modules at significant cost. I see from NHTSA web site that a recall is/was to be issued for 2000-2002. Based on number of complaints in systems seems it should be extended to 2003.”
