“As I sat in my car to drive, the driver's seat leaned back unexpectedly. It can not be raised. I have a bucket and box behind the seat to hold it in place, but it is still not in an upright position. This is a safety issue.”
NHTSA complaint #10955180, filed 2017-02, 230,000 miles“On may 30, 2003, adrian chyrsler center performed a manufacturer's recall to replace the bolts on the driver's front seat back of my car. On june 7, 2004, while in line at a fast food drive-through, one of the replaced bolts broke, and the seat fell backwards onto my daughter; my feet came off the brake pedal, and my car collided with a pick up truck which was stopped in line ahead of me.”
NHTSA complaint #10078607, filed 2004-06, 91,500 miles“I was grocery shopping and when I got in the car to go home there was a clunk noise and I was reclining in the drivers seat. I could not upright the seat so it would stay in place. I put the seat belt on and held down the console and made it home scared but safe.I looked under the seat and found a bolt broken off. I did receive a recall notice for the bolts some time ago and took the car to the local Dodge dealer. I assumed the problem was fixed although I had not had a problem until today. Can I go back to Dodge to have it fixed? Obviously it wad either not replaced or I got a faulty bolt. …”
NHTSA complaint #10583599, filed 2014-04, 145,000 miles“My engine failed on my 2000 Dodge Intrepid. The problem started with my timing chain coming apart in the engine with the engine since quitting completely. This is the same type of problem many others have listed on the internet with the timing chain and a huge engine repair cost. I do not have the money to fix a car that is so old, and I'm left paying for a car that doesn't run. Please add my name and information to the other lists of complaints for this Dodge Intrepid problem.”
NHTSA complaint #10127619, filed 2005-07, 100,986 miles“We have a 2000 Dodge Intrepid es sedan that we bought new in august of 2000. In 2003 chrysler issued a recall on a seat bolt that could break and cause the seat to fall completely backwards into the back seat. We took our car in to have the part replaced. The other day the drivers seat broke and fell back into the back seat. Fortunately the car was being parked at the time and no one was in the back seat. If we had been on the freeway or had one of our small grandchildren in the back seat the consequences could have been serious. …”
