“When adding fuel the gasoline always spits back out when tank is full spilling gasoline over the truck tire and ground. There was a recall on this a little after I purchased the Nitro new, but mack massey Dodge in el paso, tx said nothing wrong with my vehicle. So why am I still having the same problem throughout all these years?”
NHTSA complaint #11253077, filed 2019-09, 20 miles“When I fill up the gas tank after the pump shuts off, the vehicle shoots gasoline back out at me, about a half gallon its gets on the car and onto the ground, this happens every time I fill up. This is extremely dangerous!!!”
NHTSA complaint #11331368, filed 2020-06, 82,000 miles“Everytime that I fill up I have to watch fuel gauge is because the fuel pump does not pop when it is full until it overflows. This causes gas to get on the ground and all over the vehicle. This is a safety hazard. There are reports on a lot of forums that many people have had the same problem with this happening.”
NHTSA complaint #10651022, filed 2014-10, 23,000 miles“My airbag light came on a week ago and wont go off. Very nerve wracking. If I fill gas tank gas comes back out of tank all over me and truck. Key fob stopped working setting off engine immobilizer costing me $207 for a new key because the one that came with truck could not be just reprogrammed. I love my truck, but it is becoming one thing after the other and as a single disabled mom of an 8 year old, I cant afford this money pit. Especially with what my loan costs me every month. …”
NHTSA complaint #11281282, filed 2019-11, 118,000 miles“When I am filling gas tank, the automatic shut off does not work, and fuel pours out everywhere. I have been covered in gas several times as it suddenly overflows and almost seems to shoot out. It does not happen every time, started about two years ago but seems to be happening more frequently.”
