“I was driving in heavy rush hour traffic at 55 MPH when my left front tire rapidly went flat do to the TPMS valve stem failure causing me to take evasive action in order to avoid a multi vehicle collision. This driving on a flat tire caused extensive side wall damage to my new tire with only 6000 miles on it, $233.00 to replace it low cost to avoid a major accident.”

NHTSA complaint #10743466, filed 2015-07, 53,811 miles

“Tire air valves are metal and split causing a blowout on I-57 at 65 MPH. And as of today 09/03/2016 I have noticed the tires (all 4) are starting to loose air and 3 out of 4 valve stems are cracked causing the air to rush out of the tire as the crack gets worse ,this is very much a safety hazard. At this point I have no way to scan in the paperwork from the repair shop, but I do have it.”

NHTSA complaint #10903488, filed 2016-09, 65,000 miles

“While driving down the highway, I experienced a blowout on the front passenger side. The aluminum valve stem had blown out completely. I inspected the remaining three tires and all three of the other valve stems had cracked. I had to find a service garage as quick as possible to have this repaired. It seems to me that this could have been much worse, especially if all four tires would have blown at the same time.”

NHTSA complaint #10763952, filed 2015-09, 47,000 miles

“The tire pressure monitor system (TPMS) on my wheel has corroded to the point of breaking. This could cause severe bodily harm, up to including death to a person(s)in my vehicle on a rapid air loss of my tire(s). These vehicles valve stems are not suitable for northern territory where salt is used for winter months. Also check faulty hubcaps that trap water in and around valve stem.”

NHTSA complaint #10454651, filed 2012-04, 40,500 miles

“I recently had the drivers side front hub fail on my truck. Having heard a grinding noise, I took the truck home and lifted the front to inspect it. After inspecting the wheels and brakes, I removed both and found that the bearings had failed on the drivers side. These hubs are sealed units that have to be replaced. I replaced both sides to be safe. My truck has anti-lock brakes in the front also so these units cost me almost $500.00 with new pads. …”
