“Alert: Dodge RAM 2500 diesel life threatening problem --- on july 11, 2014, while driving on u.s. Route 77 in north carolina I passed an 18 wheeler at 70 MPH and pulled back into the right lane in front of the truck when, without any warning whatsoever, the engine just stopped. The truck I had just passed nearly jackknifed as the trucker applied his brakes in a panic maneuver to avoid rolling over me from behind. Luckily, he maintained control, got around me, and continued on his way. …”
NHTSA complaint #10667280, filed 2014-12, 68,000 miles“2000 Dodge 2500 ram van. Air conditioning compressor 12 volt clutch, which draws 4.5 amps measured is fused at 20 amps , the power to this fuse only goes to one place the clutch. The wire appears to be #24 gauge which may be ok for the 5 amps or so but not for 10amps or more so why the invitation to a wiring harness fire by powering that line with a 20 amp fuse? I noted this condition after I had an airconditioning clutch problem. And found wires in the harness burnt and melted togather in the harness.”
NHTSA complaint #10124633, filed 2005-06, 2,800 miles“When I adjusted the steering wheel to a different position an apparent electrical failure shut down the engine and the power steering and power brakes rendering the truck almost uncontrollable at that speed. This catastrophic failure was replicated at different speeds and while stationary. Apparently any movement of the steering wheel will shut off complete power to the engine and cause a total loss of power to the vehicle.”

The consumer was able to stop the vehicle with the emergency brake. Once the consumer was bale to restart the vehicle he drove to the dealer where they replaced the fuel pump. The fuel pump failed again, the dealer informed the consumer to expect it to fail again for the third time. The starter had to be replaced and the consumer experienced problems with sluggish shifting.”
NHTSA complaint #10127929, filed 2005-06, 33,329 miles“After the purchase of a 2000 Dodge ram 4x4 in 2003 I noticed cracks in the dash. Within two weeks the cracks quickly spread and evolved into huge holes until there was very little of the dash left. After the dash fell apart the lights periodically began to fail, the cruise control quit working then began working with a mind of its own,,, speeding up and slowing down and total shut off. Heater quit working immediately,,, Dodge refused to do any repairs what so ever, stating it was not under warranty nor was it a recall item, therefore they have no responsibility in the matter. …”
