“Front left tie rod was a safety recall in march. I had it looked at and the dealer said it was fine. On friday august 24th I was turning around in a driveway after I got off the highway 10 minutes prior when the tie rod broke. I called roadside assistance in which they towed to the nearest dealer since we were 58 miles from home. The dealer gave me a rental car and told me not to worry about anything, chrysler would handle it. …”

The truck jumped and began violently vibrating and forced me into passenger side guard rail of the bridge. The vibrating continued until I slowed down to approx 10 MPH. The problem I thought was fixed with new steering stabilizer and shocks, a.k.a. The death wobble has returned. After research on the internet, I called my local Dodge dealership with skepticism. …”

“From statement of operator while performing road maintenance activities I was driving up a grade at low speed while in four wheel drive and in low gear. The first indication of a problem was a sudden burst of smoke from under the hood accompanied by the engine oil light coming on. I tripped the hood release, went to the front of the vehicle to open the hood. The smoke from the engine compartment prevented me from safely locating the hood release. I then retrieved the fire extinguisher from the vehicle and applied it the best I could to the engine compartment. …”

The contact stated that while performing routine maintenance on the vehicle, the contact observed that the passenger’s and driver’s side support rails on the sub frame had several sections that were severely rusted. The contact stated that there were gaps of approximately 2-feet on both rails where the metal was rusted through. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a local dealer or independent mechanic.
