“I am experiencing the 'death wobble' when I hit a bump in the road. Front of vehicle wobbles and shakes dangerously and only stops when I slow down. Happens when driving the vehicle on any street or highway. I read information about steering or tie rods/stabilization being ineffective on 1999-2008 model trucks. Can this be repaired/fixed and will the cost be covered by the manufacturer?”

NHTSA complaint #10876548, filed 2016-06, 135,000 miles

“The right front tire,a general ameritrac 235/80r/17,which is the original spare tire that was put on just a couple of months before, started to shake. I went to local tire store to get a new one installed. They did not have any so I was on my way home. Its about 8 miles each way to this store from my home. On the way home, this tire blew up like it had a bomb in it! …”

NHTSA complaint #10927068, filed 2016-11, 111,000 miles

“While traveling on the highway, when I'm at highway speeds and I hit a bump in the road the entire front end of the truck shakes and bounces uncontrollably until I slow to around 50 MPH. I have had ball joints, tie rods, shocks and steering stabilizer replaced, plus new tires and multiple alignments performed. My master mechanic said non of this will remedy the issue. The y type steering setup is the problem, the dealer told me it needs to be updated to the 09 steering but it's not covered under recall. …”

NHTSA complaint #10903066, filed 2016-09, 140,000 miles

“Vehicle begins shaking violently cause loss of control. I have to come to a complete stop to regain control of the vehicle. No mechanics or Dodge service centers know what is causing the problem. I have spent over $2000 to have things replaced and problem has not been fixed. This is a very dangerous problem. I have searched the internet for solutions. All I have found are other people with this problem an no one knows how to fix it!”
