“The right front tire,a general ameritrac 235/80r/17,which is the original spare tire that was put on just a couple of months before, started to shake. I went to local tire store to get a new one installed. They did not have any so I was on my way home. Its about 8 miles each way to this store from my home. On the way home, this tire blew up like it had a bomb in it! …”

NHTSA complaint #10534239, filed 2013-08, 90,000 miles

“I purchased a new 2007 Dodge 3500 , that started to fail in many areas of the vehicle, before the 10,000 mile mark. Freedom Dodge here in lexington kentucky deliberately executed insurance fraud to blame clutch failure on a minor collision that never busted a light, radiator, etc. And was able to drive after collision. Before the accident I noticed clutch slipping, truck tires began to wear at an extreme rate, and vibrations was becoming an increasing problem. I then took the truck to freedom Dodge where they blamed all on minor collision, in which I turned to geico for reimbursement. …”

NHTSA complaint #10313117, filed 2010-02, 9,000 miles

“Tire-tread separation on three different wheels before 18,000 miles had been driven on new Dodge dually. These were general tires, load range e . The warranties are not adhered to completely. Continental tire is the apparent owner of general tire and continental is an off-shore company. Miserable people to deal with.”

NHTSA complaint #10359997, filed 2010-10, 8,000 miles

“During travel on interstate 40 at exit 56, drivers side front tire separated causing damage to inner fender, windshield washer electrical components, and fender and nearly causing catastrophic loss of vehicle control and loss of life of an entire family. All tires were at the proper inflation and temperature range at the time of the incident. With only 20,000 miles on the tire, this seems to be manufactured defect from the general tire company. I no longer consider general tires to be a reliable product and will research and seek replacements from other reputable tire companies. …”

NHTSA complaint #10694340, filed 2015-03, 20,945 miles

“I bought my 2007.5 Dodge Ram 3500 6.7L cummins in 2020 and had Commercial Tire install 4 Brand new Cooper Discoverer AT3 XLT and all was great until it wasn't. We mainly drive our pickup local to where we live and the highway speeds are 55mph. In 2025 April I had the front end completely rebuilt and rotated the tires. My son found a dirtbike that was about 3.5 hours away which included freeway driving and as soon as we hit 70mph for about 15 miles I started feeling a vibration it was fairly light at first and on our return trip it steadily got worse. …”
