2011 Dodge RAM 5500 Wheels Problems

“The contact owns a 2011 Dodge Ram 5500. The contact stated that the manufacturer failed to provide an adequate Owner’s Manual that referenced the torque required on the lug nuts for the vehicle. The contact stated that the lug nuts were torqued very tightly during the manufacturing process. The contact referenced NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V398000 (WHEELS); as a possible cause for the failure. The local dealer was contacted; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed because the VIN was not under recall. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 14,700.”

“The contact owns a 2011 Dodge RAM 5500. The contact stated that while driving approximately 5 MPH, there was a loud clunking sound from the driver's side of the vehicle. Upon inspection, it was found that the driver side tie rod end was fractured. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the tie rod needed to be replaced. The contact mentioned that the vehicle was previously repaired under the manufacturer's recall for the tie rod. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. …”
