1993: “As I was driving down the highway, my vehicle suddenly took off full throttle causing a loss of control. Luckily I was able to shut the vehicle down before any damage could be done to my engine or other vehicles, and I had the vehicle towed home. Dodge has a recall (#605), for the exact symptoms I was experiencing, though my injection pump does not fall under the date code. I took my injection pump into the dealership and they said they could not do anything about it. …”
NHTSA complaint #10453941, filed 2012-04, 237,000 miles1991: “I first noticed the bottom of the steering column cover getting very warm, I removed the cover and found that it had a burn hole and carbon residue on it. When the truck is running the ignition switch gets hot, causing the burnt cover. Also, the volt meter starts high after starting and fluctuates between high volts and low volts until the battery recovers its full charge, (possibly related). The truck is a 1991 Dodge W250 diesel.”
NHTSA complaint #10088742, filed 2004-08, 118,000 miles1992: “While driving between 5-30 MPH consumer stepped on the brake pedal to stop vehicle and brakes grabbed for few seconds, but, afterwards they released. Vehicle lost control and was involved in a crash. Abs brakes work in a slow way, and consumer has to start stepping on the brakes a few feet from another vehicle to avoid an accident.”
