2007: “On my 2007 ducat gt1000 motorcycle, the gas tank is faulty and the tank is spreading as time passes. My tank has spread enough that the front right part of the tank is touching the fork when cranked to the right. It is also increasingly becoming lose from the mounting brackets and tank can be moved up and down. I will be taking the motorcycle into a local dealer for replacement.”

NHTSA complaint #10362366, filed 2010-10, 2,200 miles

2009: “I own a 2009 Ducati sport classic gt1000. I have put 2,500 miles on the bike and the fuel tank bowed outward and no longer attaches to the frame of my bike. Causing the fuel tank to become extremely wobbly and loose. This bike has never been in any accidents. This seems to be a common defect with Ducati fuel tanks.”

NHTSA complaint #10334092, filed 2010-06, 2,500 miles

2008: “After approximately one year of ownership, the gas tank on my 2008 Ducati gt1000 motorcycle expanded to the point where it was no longer secured by the mounting bosses and could easily be lifted off the frame. My local Ducati dealer replaced the tank under warranty with another tank made of the same material. Now, the second tank has began to spread and is loose from the mounting bosses.”

NHTSA complaint #10366979, filed 2010-11, 7,500 miles
