“I purchased a Ducati Sport Classic gt1000 in early 2007. Tank deformed during regular use. Contacted Ducati dealer which, after some back and forth, agreed to replace the tank with a new one. Already at that time I was warned that the new tank is the same and the issue will happen again. Shortly thereafter, the tank deformed again and I just (november 2010) visited the dealer again. This time, the dealer was very helpful. …”

NHTSA complaint #10369124, filed 2010-12, 5,000 miles

“Fuel tank on my 2007 Ducati gt1000 has warped/distorted in such a manner that the right side of the tank no longer fits in it's frame mounts properly. This unit currently has 16,500 miles on the odometer. This is the 2nd fuel tank to be mounted on this motorcycle. The original tank that was mounted at the time the motorcycle was assembled also had the same warp/distortion issues at approx 5000 miles and was replaced under factory warranty.”
