Example complaints

Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“While driving around 60 MPH, a sheet of metal about 10 inches high/5 feet long/ 40 thousands of an inch thick, and painted black, fell off. Owner believed that the piece was a heat shield. The heat shield was poorly attached to the chassis by spot welds instade of bolts. The constant rippling motion of this thin sheet appears to have caused metal fatigue to all the failed spot welds resulting to fell off.”
