NHTSA complaint #10303278, filed 2010-01, 90,000 miles“The contact owns a 2005 Ford CVPI. Since purchasing the vehicle the contact noticed that the wheels on the vehicle had begun to show signs of rust. The contact called the dealership regarding NHTSA recall #07v079000 component: wheels and was informed that the recall did not apply to his vehicles VIN number. The vehicle had not been diagnosed by the dealership at the time of the complaint. The current and failure mileages were 172000.”

The problem begins with the finish seemingly disappearing with clean metal visible that eventually rusts over. The local dealer reports no recalls associated with this problem. Was curious to know if this is a common occurrence and what safety issue this may pose if the rims continue to rust?”
