“Fuel pressure regulator is not working properly. Regulator was supposed to read at a very low number, but when vehicle stopped working, it was reading at 90 lbs. Contacted dealer. Consumer states the regulator is supposed to regulate pressure to 35 PSI. Vehicle was still drive able, but was running very rich due to regulator malfunction.”
NHTSA complaint #8009564, filed 2002-05“A poor diesign with power stroke engines, the fuel pump is located on top of engine and the turbo charger is directly behind the fuel pump, a fuel leak occurs causing diesel fumes, it overfills and a spillage is all over the engine and by the turbo charger which, in turn, causes a fire.”
