“Vehicle lost power and stopped running while moving at a speed of 55 MPH. Vehicle dangerously skid to a complete stop in the middle of a busy highway, unable to drive onto shoulder. Had to be towed into dealership. Vehicle purchased on 06/14/2005 for $58,000, incident happened 07/08/2005, and vehicle is still in shop as of 08/01/2005. The vehicle only had 3,700 miles on it when this happened. Dealership said the torque converter went out. This vehicle was to be used to transport tourist safely to and from our tour location. I purchased this new vehicle for reliability and safety. …”

NHTSA complaint #10130747, filed 2005-08, 3,700 miles

“Truck lost power and stopped running. Had to be towed into dealership. They found a small pin that lets the gears change broke and also the torque converter went out. Ford would not send them a new transmission and made them rebuild the old one. Torque converter on back order - estimated delivery date was february 25. Our problem occurred on january 12. The truck only had 3,600 miles on it when this happened. This is totally unacceptable.”

NHTSA complaint #10107673, filed 2005-01, 3,688 miles

“The vehicle does not always go into the correct gear, as indicated on the steering column. When using the automatic gear shift on the column, and placing the vehicle into drive , the vehicle goes into reverse. When the gear shift is moved to reverse , it does not engage and stays in neutral. Sometimes, the vehicle will hover in neutral then suddenly engage into 1st gear without moving the gear shift. This issue was brought to Ford's attention by us in 2007 (11000 miles) and 2009 (23000 miles), and the Ford dealers could not find anything wrong with the linkages. …”

NHTSA complaint #10406809, filed 2011-06, 11,486 miles

“Ford f150 2005 rear axle or drive train slips and knocks on acceleration and around corners. Dealer said problem was fixed with more grease in rear axle. Problem still exsists.”
