Example complaints

Electrical system: “I have a 2005 Ford e450 cutaway 6.0l diesel engine and it will shutdown completely during normal driving conditions. This condition was diagnose by a certified mechanic as a problem w/ ficm & PCM computers both where replaced by us. The problem continues and after long hours of research found recall campaign (05v270000) call Ford and they informed me this vehicle was not included in the recall. This failure occurs aprox. 15 min after driving at normal speeds. …”

Transmission and drivetrain: “Vehicle lost power and stopped running while moving at a speed of 55 MPH. Vehicle dangerously skid to a complete stop in the middle of a busy highway, unable to drive onto shoulder. Had to be towed into dealership. Vehicle purchased on 06/14/2005 for $58,000, incident happened 07/08/2005, and vehicle is still in shop as of 08/01/2005. The vehicle only had 3,700 miles on it when this happened. Dealership said the torque converter went out. This vehicle was to be used to transport tourist safely to and from our tour location. I purchased this new vehicle for reliability and safety. …”

NHTSA complaint #10130747, filed 2005-08, 3,700 miles

Engine cooling: “I own a 2005 f350 power stroke diesel pickup and have been throughly discouraged by Ford lack of admission to the engine problems. I have not been involved in an accident, however, I feel that the consumer needs to know the problems with the 6.0 litre powerstroke. I have heard many stories of consumer problems and yet Ford denies the problems. I think that Ford is trying to make a silent recall because a full recall will hurt them financially. Please investigate as to the problems with this engine.”

NHTSA complaint #10114264, filed 2005-03, 7,500 miles

Fuel system: “2005 Ford crown victoria (police vehicle) purchased january 14, 2005 with 600 miles suddenly accellerated while the officer was stopped with his foot firmly on the brake. Took cruiser out of service and had towed to dealer where purchased. A second 2005 Ford crown victoria purchased on january 14, 2005 (approx. 550 miles)did the same thing by accellerating without putting foot on the accellerator pedal. In the second incident, the vehicle lurched causing damage to the left front drivers door. Tond vehicle was also put out of service and towed to the dealer.”
