“Door latch for rear tailgate. While traveling the warning light would come on and tell me the tailgate was open. Each time this happened I’d pull over to find the tailgate was not shut tight for no reason. This happened about 4 times. Recently The rear latch was stuck so I couldn’t close the door This happened 2 times.The second time I had to tie a rope to keep it closed. My mechanic told me that the latch mechanism needs to be replaced. The eco sport goes in for repair 3/8. I do not have repair documentation as of this complaint.”

The contact stated that while driving on several occasions at various speeds, the swing gate of the rear door was unlatched and opened inadvertently. The vehicle was steered to the side of the road each time and the swing gate was slammed closed. Additionally, the contact stated that while driving on several occasions at various speeds, she observed a very loud noise coming from the rear of the vehicle. The vehicle was steered to the side of the road and inspected. The vehicle was turned off and was not able to restart for 45 minutes. …”
