“For years my alarm goes off randomly, during the day to all hours of the night. When I'm driving the car the light inside will go on and off and on dashboard will say door ajar. I've called Ford, I've asked the dealer and I've asked mechanics not with Ford. Since the alarm is built into engine it can not be disabled. Only option is to pull horn wire so my neighbors will not be annoyed by my horn and alarm soundings at all hours. I've researched for years how to try to fix this issue, I've changed my car battery, I've changed battery in remote...nothing is working. …”

NHTSA complaint #11328090, filed 2020-06, 131,000 miles

“The door ajar light comes and beeps while the overhead light comes on and off while I am driving for no reason. Sometimes it continues for a few minutes and other times it goes on and on until I stop the car and slam all the doors on my car shut. My car alarm also goes off all by itself for no reason, probably resulting from this same problem. I understand from online posts that this is a common occurrence with Ford vehicles. This problem should be addressed by Ford.”

NHTSA complaint #10644670, filed 2014-10, 60,000 miles

“I was told by local dealer the the drivers door and passenger rear door had faulty door lock/ door senor issues. I noticed on line other year Escape had same issues but see no recall.”

NHTSA complaint #10876017, filed 2016-06, 54,670 miles

“We took our 2007 Ford Escape (aprox 60,000 miles) on a road trip from omaha ne to st. Louis mo on 3/10/13 and arrived with no issues. On our return trip we drove about 100 miles until the car stopped on the interstate. The vehicle completely shut down and all of the warning lights came on at the same time. We were able to coast to the shoulder safely but were unable to restart the vehicle. We had aaa tow the vehicle about 30 miles to the closest town and aaa approved mechanic. …”

NHTSA complaint #10503024, filed 2013-03, 60,000 miles

“White parked with the alarm on, the alarm goes off for no reason & the lights continue to flash possible running down the battery. This happens almost daily, even more than once a day while at work. Sometimes too far away for me to hear the alarm.”
