Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“For years my alarm goes off randomly, during the day to all hours of the night. When I'm driving the car the light inside will go on and off and on dashboard will say door ajar. I've called Ford, I've asked the dealer and I've asked mechanics not with Ford. Since the alarm is built into engine it can not be disabled. Only option is to pull horn wire so my neighbors will not be annoyed by my horn and alarm soundings at all hours. I've researched for years how to try to fix this issue, I've changed my car battery, I've changed battery in remote...nothing is working. …”

NHTSA complaint #11328090, filed 2020-06, 131,000 miles

“Bad rear door switch. I bought my SUV used on july 14, 2014. The dome light kept going off or staying on. The doors would or wouldn't lock. The horn would go off randomly. This is all within the first three or four days of my owning it. I took it to the dealer and it took them a while but they finally realized it was a bad rear door switch. The dealer fixed it at no cost to me, but I saw the bill was about $600. Shortly after that the horn started going off again. My friend has a 2006 Ford Escape. She has been having similar issues. She said the horn was the weather induced. …”

NHTSA complaint #10993910, filed 2017-06, 63,280 miles

“Upon reversing from a parked position and then slowly moving forward there is a loud rattling sound, my daughter who has the same vehicle purchased one month prior to mine had the same problem and was required to have the motor mounts replaced. I am sure that if two of us had the same problem so must other Escape owners. It cost my daughter $1000 to have hers replaced, unfortunately I am unable to afford that so my vehicle sits idle. As far as I am concerned this is an extremely important safety issue for which I believe should have been recalled.”

NHTSA complaint #10652417, filed 2014-11, 93,000 miles

“White parked with the alarm on, the alarm goes off for no reason & the lights continue to flash possible running down the battery. This happens almost daily, even more than once a day while at work. Sometimes too far away for me to hear the alarm.”

NHTSA complaint #11245797, filed 2019-08, 25,000 miles

“The Ford Escape,4 cylinder front drivers door latch and passenger rear door latch faulty causing door lock alarm to sound the horn various times of the day with vehicle parked and locked by key. Has occurred in the last 4 months (june, july aug, sept 2015) some days multiple alarms then a dry spell then at 10 am and then at 3 pm same day or different day. All while parked in the driveway.”
