“On June 3, 2026 at approximately 3:48 PM, I was operating my 2025 Ford F-150 Lightning Flash in front of my home. The vehicle was at a stop or near-stop. I shifted the vehicle into Reverse, and it rapidly accelerated unexpectedly while in one-pedal driving mode. I then attempted to shift the vehicle into Park to stop it. The vehicle then stopped abruptly and surged forward, ultimately crashing into the front of my house. The vehicle movement and acceleration were not consistent with my intended driver input. …”
NHTSA complaint #11742033, filed 2026-06“On August 19, 2026, I was involved in a collision in my 2025 Ford F-150 Lightning after a suspected malfunction involving the automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and/or acceleration controls. Cruise control was on; BlueCruise was not. While on an exit ramp, I heard a loud warning beep, experienced automatic braking, and then felt the truck suddenly accelerate into the vehicle ahead. The unexpected braking and acceleration compromised my ability to control the truck and avoid a collision, putting me and occupants of the other vehicle at risk. …”
NHTSA complaint #11762056, filed 2026-09“Vehicle unintentional cruise activation has happened two times now. The button requires no other 2nd action and at speed low enough to cause unintended forward and sudden acceleration. The button activates easily under turns due to its placements. In addition to this blue cruise gets very confused as sudden vehicles entering the lane in front of it cause severe lane drift due to programming.”
