“Several times now. While driving the car (AC normally on), we will get to a full stop from driving (over ~40 min trips)... Whether in traffic on a freeway or stop sign... The cars check brake system light will flash & beep, and the car will not accelerate. Neither the electric motor nor the gas/hybrid engine will engage and drive. Turning off and on the car does not reset it... It takes repeat effort and several minutes (once over 10 minutes) to be able to start up. Can't imagine if it were to happen on a freeway again with a child or my other half in the car! Scary! …”
NHTSA complaint #11112392, filed 2018-07, 5,000 miles“While driving down a city street my car had a complete loss of power, with multiple warning lights and alarms going off. There was no warning of this failure prior as the car was operating normally. Associated with this loss of power was a loss of steering and a loss of power assist braking, which resulted in the car came to a stop in the middle of the street. Once in park it would not allow changing gears. A tow truck required the use of tire dolly's to load the vehicle, which was taken to the dealer for diagnosis. …”
