“Starting at approx. 50mph I experience a shimmy in the steering wheel, most of the time. From time to time it will not shimmy when I reach the 50mph but as soon as I stop and start again the shimmy returns. I took it back to the dealer and all they did was balance the tires and did not make a difference. So I have had the car aligned, tires/rims force road balanced, new rotors, brake pads,bearings checked and still have the same shimmy. Dealer will not help and I nor anyone else knows what to try next.”
NHTSA complaint #10200263, filed 2007-08“The contact owns a 2006 Ford Mustang equipped with 4 goodyear gt tires, size: 234/45/17. The contact was driving 70 MPH when the front driver's side tire failed. The contact lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a guardrail. The police were notified and a police report was filed. There were no injuries. The tires were inspected by an independent mechanic, who informed the contact that the tire tread was 10/32. The tire was not replaced and the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the incident. The approximate failure mileage of the vehicle was 75,294. …”
