2000: “Unable to pass vehicle safety inspection due to cracked frame by means of rust damage to the right front section of the t-frame. The truck was bought in 2003 and had a clean car fax report but when inspected I was informed by the inspector that the ranger frame had been welded on prior due to rust damage. In 2005 I had to replace the rear shackles and leaf springs due to the same rust damage. …”
NHTSA complaint #10672907, filed 2015-01, 122,089 miles2001: “The plastic which covers the two speed control switches, located on each side of steering wheel, badly melted over time - apparently from heat of the lamps under the covers. It has made me afraid to attempt to use the speed controls for fear of further heat problems and/or improper functioning of the damaged controls. Photos of the damaged parts are attached. I have contacted Ford customer service with these complaints and photos and all I got was a thanks for making this known to them - nothing more.”
NHTSA complaint #11193434, filed 2019-04, 45,000 miles1998: “I purchased a vehicle with an express 45 day guarantee. Within the 45 days I was having major problems with my vehicle. It was not shifting right, it was overheating, leaking oil and radiator fluid. Since the problems were found the vehicle has been brought back into the company for repairs over and over again, it is now four months later and the problem still has not been fixed. With all the bad repairs and installs done on the vehicle it's life expectancy is now shot. …”
