“Led use is missing the appropriate level of rigger for correct human factors! The operating frequencies of pwm (pulse width modulation) LED's (light emitting diode) is to low for some viewers! This is a very real condition known as flicker fusion or critical fusion frequency and does not have the same effect on all viewers. The lamps look as if they are all over the roadway and completely out of control! It is just about impossible to drive at night due to this!!!! …”
NHTSA complaint #10370783, filed 2010-12, 10 miles“Lane change turn signal. Ford has vehicles with the lance change signal, where when tapping the turn signal handle, the signal flashes 3 times. In wisconsin and I assume all states, the law states that one must indicate in advance the intent of lane change or turn and continue signal until completed. Three flashes does not provide adequate warning. Should be 6-8 flashes. Contacted Ford customer service and dealer. No way to adjust the number of flashes, and customer service says as long as working according to specs, that is all that matters.”
NHTSA complaint #10395373, filed 2011-04“Flicker effect! This needs action now; the operating frequency on some vehicles did not consider human factors. The operating frequency needs to be above 3000 hertz, this needs a recall to correct this on all vehicles that do not conform. The choice of flicker fusion threshold operating frequency is going to get someone killed or maybe it already has! What is needed: recall all delenators, road side signs, signal lights and vehicles that use pwm pulse width modulation . And are operating below 3000 hertz!! Set a standard for this!!!”
