“1995 Ford Windstar - sliding door top forward bracket attach point. 1) the metal around the attach point on the door shows stress cracks on all four sides and the metal under the paint is buckling. The location of the bracket below the door seal may allow rain to pool up on the bracket support and cause the supporting metal to rust and separate from the vehicle. 2) door is rattling and is in danger of falling off. Vehicle. 3) I am currently investigating the availability of a new door or welding a support plate on the existing door.”

NHTSA complaint #10074534, filed 2004-05, 125,199 miles

“We purchased the van with 42,00 miles on it. Since then the following repairs have been preformed since april 1998: brakes and rotors replaced, rotors were warpped because of heat, we bought extended warranty on van to cover cost of repairs including electrical to find out it covers zip. A senor is considered a computer chip and not under warranty. …”

NHTSA complaint #708454, filed 1999-07

“While dropping off my child at preschool, the van's sliding door detached from the vehicle and fell sideways onto the grass. I have taken it to the Ford repair shop here, and they have told me I am responsible for the $200 repair. My feeling is that a sliding door to a five-year-old van should not just be falling off, and that we are all very lucky my little boy was not standing beside it when it did.”

NHTSA complaint #717940, filed 2000-01

“For the past year have had door ajar light go on, tried closing all doors till it shuts off. Now the door ajar light will not go off at all, so the interior lights stay on--even after vehicle is turned off with no keys in the ignition. I lock up vehicle for the night and interior lights wont turn off. I now had to remove some of the light bulbs hoping that the battery is not being drained. Would like solution to this problem.”

NHTSA complaint #724940, filed 2000-07

“When I attempted to open the passenger side sliding door, it fell right off. The back end of the door fell right to the ground. The car has not been in an accident of any kind. Very dangerous as it almost took my foot off.”
