“The radiator and water pump went bad and the transmission went out as I was driving. The electrical locks on the doors locks us in regularly, while driving it often slides on it's own. There's a good bit of things going on with my car that I don't know about to tell you about.”
NHTSA complaint #10863591, filed 2016-05, 187 miles“Going down the road traction control will go off and on . It will make the steering very hard. Then when you turn the engine off. It is very hard to start up . Some times you have to wait for about two or three hours then it will start right up. The electric system is very bad. Sometimes when the traction control starts to have a problem the van is very hard to even keep it in control I'm disabled and can't afford to get a better van. I've tried to take it back to Ford but they don't know what to do with it. All they tale me is to get anew one .but I can't. …”
NHTSA complaint #11384006, filed 2020-12, 129,032 miles“I bought the 2000 Ford Windstar on 09/12/2012. It had 125,000 miles. After I bought it I immediately took it to the mechanic shop to have them check it over. They found that the outer and inner tie rod ends needed to be replaced. Also, the mechanics found that the transmission mounts needed to be replaced. Also, the front struts and the rear shocks needed to be replaced. Also, the front engine mount needed to be replaced. I had all that work completed for around $1,500. Then a few months later, the vehicle broke down in my front yard. …”
NHTSA complaint #10489432, filed 2012-12, 125,067 miles“When shifting the car into p, r, n, or d, it makes a loud thumping sound and makes the whole car jerk. When I turn the steering wheel you can hear a loud grinding, creaky cracking like noise coming from the front of the car.”
NHTSA complaint #10522858, filed 2013-07, 105,259 miles“We came from eating breakfast to a dead battery, then we had someone help us to jump it; however, my husband noticed the electrical was not working, and it was still running, but very slow. It finally gave up and we had to tow it, and have someone look at it. We are in the middle of the problem, so hopefully Ford will have a notice or something in the mail soon. We have had problems before with the battery, and thinking maybe that is the problem, but we are hearing stories from online of other issues that could of caused this.”
