“While driving to work the car check engine light came on and said overheating pull over. After pulling over a local shop towed me back since the nearest Gmc dealer is 30 miles away and the snowy conditions are safe to drive in with a car that is acting up. Once at the shop it is evident the water pump is leaking at the shaft seal. Due to the nature of the issue I was unable to transport my car to a Gmc dealer for repair, thus the cost of this repair is again my responsibility per Gmc customer service . …”

NHTSA complaint #10690042, filed 2015-02, 101,745 miles

“In slowing at manual stop sign, the engine accelerated (while I had my foot on the brake) to a very high revolution--approximately 4,000 to 4,500 revs--and I had to put all of my leg strength into pushing the brake pedal to the floor, while I hurried to shut the engine off. Once I had turned the ignition off, the engine did shut down the way it should have. Once that was accomplished, I started the engine up again and it ran without any further incident. It was a few months later before another such incident occurred. …”

NHTSA complaint #10577696, filed 2014-04, 75,417 miles

“I had just picked up my car from having the A/C compressor and condensor replaced and I was doing a u turn into a gas station when the power steering went out. I had to manually turn the wheel. With my two children in the back I almost went into a ditch. I immediately called the dealership and took it in for them to look at. They told me that the power steering gear assembly was leaking and needed to be replaced. They found that when the ves valve was commanded shut, the valve would not re-open. The rack was also leaking on the left side. …”

NHTSA complaint #10464814, filed 2012-07, 43,100 miles

“My air conditioning has never been cool on my vehicle, especially in extremely hot weather. I took it in to the dealership several times with the result being there is nothing wrong with it. Finally on the 4th of july it stopped working completely. It was blowing hot air. We took it to the dealership again and they said that the compressor had been failing for some time. Metal shavings had come off and clogged the condenser and filter. The dealership replaced the compressor and the condenser. The air conditioning still is not really cold, but at least it isn't hot.”

NHTSA complaint #10464817, filed 2012-07, 43,000 miles

“The headlight went out and Gmc quoted me at approximately $120 to replace. Husband attempted to replace it but you had to take off the wheel in order to get to the actual light. I gave Gmc the go ahead to replace and they called me back and told me that the wiring had melted and that it would now be over $300 to do it. I told them no and made a complaint. They called me a few days later telling me they would do it but I had to pay $50 deductible (assuming they went through some type of warranty). It eventually became a recall and I am now looking into getting reimbursed for my $50. …”
