The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 105,000.”

NHTSA complaint #10786526, filed 2015-10, 105,000 miles

Fuel system: “Fuel pump module corrosion causing leaking fuel and fuel vapors from the top of the fuel tank. This is due to a design defect as the fuel pump module sits lower than the highest point of the fuel tank and moisture and debris accumulate on top of the fuel pump module. The top of the module is not manufactured with appropriate rust-proofing measures and the materials used leave it prone to rusting and failure, compromising the seal and allowing fuel to escape from the tank. This poses a fire hazard, especially if fuel is able to reach heated exhaust pipes, etc. …”

The vehicle is a total loss. During the accident none of the airbags were deployed. As traumatic as the accident was I feel they should of went off.”
