“Upon filling gas tank to full, fuel gauge indicated empty and low fuel light illuminated. This indication now comes and goes and is erratic and unreliable. Note: I received a letter ( not a recall ) from GM last year saying if my vehicle experienced this problem to notify my dealer for service. Appears to me, GM knew it was just a matter of time before I experienced this problem. I have read numerous complaints by GM envoy owners since then with the same problem. My local GM dealer says that GM will fix the problem and pay only half the cost. This well known problem is of epidemic proportion. …”
NHTSA complaint #10513421, filed 2013-05, 57,800 miles“Gas gauge does not register correctly. First started when filled up with gas and would never show full tank, only 3 quarters at most. Now it does not register at all. Always on e and low fuel light always on. Very annoying. Noticed this is a very common problem with Gmc envoy, trailblazer, etc. How many signatures does it take for a recall?”
NHTSA complaint #10286681, filed 2009-10, 59,000 miles“The contact owns a 2005 Gmc ENVOY 360. The contact stated that while driving at 50 MPH, the fuel gauge indicated that the vehicle was full of fuel but when coming the a stop, the fuel gauge indicated an empty reading level. The failure occurred constantly. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.”
