“Fuel sensor failed on vehicle less than 2 years old but past warranty. Symptoms were fuel gauge failed to work or worked incorrectly and engine light would come on intermittently. I was unable to determine how much gas was in tank. Had to pay $630 for parts and labor to replace fuel sensor since I am 5k miles over the 36k warranty.”
NHTSA complaint #10267418, filed 2009-05, 41,280 miles“Sending unit inside of gas tank: when full of gas, gauge says below empty & gas light comes on. When 7/8 full to almost empty gas gauge reads correct, when empty gas gauge reads 2nd to last line, car runs out of gas & no gas light comes on. When you are driving at 50 MPH and run out you could crash. When car is parked for 4+min. Gauge goes below empty & fuel light comes on.”
