“My 2004 envoy after driving it for a year with no long road trips the tires had worn unevenly and two were almost bald. This is a short time for tires and they were rotated when need. The warranty covered replacing the tires and now it has been another year or so and they have do the same thing. Gmc does not want to replace them again, they say it is normal wear. So my question is how many people replace their tires every year?”

NHTSA complaint #10170764, filed 2006-10, 30,000 miles

“One morning, I had a flat tire, the tire was taken off the vehicle, and taken to sears auto center. Visual inspection revealed no punctures or reason for the flat. Further inspection showed the valve stem had a large crack close to the tire itself. Needed to replace the valve stem. Brought vehicle home, and left in garage for the weekend, when taking the vehicle out of the garage on monday morning, thought the steering was not as usual. Stopped the vehicle, and saw another tire was going flat. Then checked the other three tires, and saw all three valve stems had cracks in them. …”

NHTSA complaint #10293970, filed 2009-11, 71,000 miles

“The spare tire release does not work. You are supposed to raise the jack up to the spare tire and it will push the spare up and release I the release bent as well as the jack. We will now have to cut the wire if we ever want to use the spare tire. This should have a normal release or metal plate holding the spare onto the bottom of the truck.”

NHTSA complaint #10190131, filed 2007-05

“The contact owns a 2004 Gmc Envoy Xl. While driving 70 MPH, the tread on the michelin cross-terrain tires separated. A michelin dealer inspected the tire, but could not determine the cause of failure. There were no visible signs of any foreign objects puncturing the tire. The road conditions were clear. The DOT number and VIN were unavailable. The current and failure mileages were 36,000.”

NHTSA complaint #10191430, filed 2007-05, 36,000 miles

“Consumer stated while driving rear passenger's side tire blew out. Consumer took vehicle to dealer, and next day she was told by dealer that a nail might have been in the tire. Consumer disagreed with dealers assessment. Michelin cross terrain tire.”
